Certifications and Licenses

The Cobalt-60 Sealed Source Production Plant has been certified under ISO 9001 for the “Design, Production and Marketing of Co-60 Sealed Sources and of Co-60 sealed sources and marketing of nuclear medicine uses radioactive isotopes under the ARN operational license.”

Moreover, the plant applies ISO 2919 standards including mechanical and thermal assays, as well as ISO 9978, applied during production and involving applicable leakage tests.

The industrial plant located in the Cordoba Province UO2 has been certified by ISO 9001:2015 for the “Uranium Dioxide Production and Supply for the Manufacturing of fuel elements destined for NPPs”.

It also has CCPE-IEC-017 “Certification of a special process qualification” and compliance with ASTM C 753-99 “Nuclear-Grade, sinterable Uranium dioxide powder” and CNEA E.0.16.126 “nuclear-grade, sinterable Uranium Dioxide Powder obtained by AUC”.

Controls

Regulatory activities done by the ARN aim at controlling facilities. These activities include analyzing documentation about design and operational aspects, evaluating safety in a permanent way during the NPP operation and through inspections and audits, verify the license fulfillment.

Both production processes and all the activities related to physical security, safeguards and protection are controlled and regulated by the ARN which acts in accordance with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Moreover, the production process is qualified by CNEA through its Fuel Elements Engineering Office.
