High-Level Defense

The concept of high level defense guarantees that no technical, human or organizational failure may derive into harmful effects.

Different independent and consecutive protection levels will be combined as defense mechanisms for the plant. This system entails a number of barriers that allow for the avoidance of any failure that may arise. Should the event overpass one of the barriers, there will be others that will guarantee a sound control during the process.

1- Regulatory authority:

Verifies the proper operation of barriers

2- Regulations and procedures:

Passed and controlled by ARN. They cannot be modified without an authorization.

3- PASSIVE SYSTEMS

First physical barrier. Intrinsic protection based on the laws of physics.

4- ACTIVE SYSTEMS

Second physical barrier. It is based on redundance, separation and diversity.
